Sometimes the most radical thing we can do is create a small corner where we can simply breathe.
Not a retreat. Not an overhaul.
Just a sanctuary — even if it’s only the size of your favorite chair.

✦ PAUSE • Creating a Sanctuary, A Small Corner to Breathe ✦
I’ve been thinking lately about what it means to have a place to return to.
Not geographically. But internally. A place inside myself where I can pause without needing permission. Where I don’t have to perform or produce or prove anything.
For me right now, that looks like Me:30 on Friday mornings — thirty minutes with just me, a cardigan latte, and my journal. No agenda. No productivity metrics.
It also looks like the corner of my living room where I do spontaneous Zumba when my body asks for movement. Or the quiet moment before I open my planner in the morning.
These aren’t grand gestures. They’re not Instagram-worthy self-care routines.
They’re just small corners where I give myself permission to breathe.
What would it look like to create your own small sanctuary this month — not perfect, just present?

✦ SEE • I’ve Created Monthly Bingo Cards ✦
In 2026, wanted to try something a little playful. As a manifesting generator in Human Design, I need to have some play in my life. I am at my best with it.
So, last month, I began to create monthly Bingo Cards in 2026; I began with January and one for Columbus specifically for local adventures for the entirety of the year — and honestly, I’ve made one now for February.
They’re filled with things I actually want to do. Not shoulds. Not have-tos. Just genuine invitations to presence.
Things like:
•Treat myself to Valentine’s flowers
•Try a new coffee house
•Chase a sunrise
•Get a cross tattoo (yes, really)
•Make homemade cinnamon rolls
•Curl up under a blanket and read with no technology
The bingo format makes it feel less like a to-do list and more like a gentle game I’m playing with myself. A way to notice what brings me joy without turning joy into an obligation.
Some squares I’ll check off. Some I won’t. (I didn’t get a Bingo in January). And that’s okay.
The point isn’t completion. It’s noticing — paying attention to what lights me up, what my body is asking for, what feels restorative instead of depleting.
What are the small joys you’ve been postponing? The ones that don’t need to wait for the “right time”?

✦ BREATHE • Reevaluation of This Year’s Goals and Making Adjustments ✦
I started 2026 with a plan. Three themes: Restoration, Relationships, Simplification. Goals around Luke Bible study, nervous system regulation, building Brisalo’s platform.
And then… life happened.
Conversations with my daughters didn’t go the way I hoped. Some days felt heavier than others. Some weeks required more rest than momentum.
At first, I felt like I was failing. Like I wasn’t keeping up with my own intentions.
But then I paused. I listened to my nervous system instead of overriding it.
And I realized: the goal isn’t to execute the plan perfectly. The goal is to stay present enough to adjust when life asks me to.
So I’m reevaluating. Not abandoning my themes — but softening how I hold them.
Maybe restoration looks less like a structured routine and more like saying yes to water therapy when I need it. Maybe relationships means releasing expectations and showing up as I am. Maybe simplification is choosing one thing instead of three.
This is the practice: noticing when the plan is serving me, and when it’s just adding weight.
Where might you need to adjust rather than push through? What is your body or your life trying to tell you?

✦ Grow • Paying Attention to What I’ve Been Feeling, Being Present With Them, and Not Giving Myself Negative Self-Talk ✦
Here’s what I’m learning:
Feelings aren’t problems to solve. They’re information.
When I feel anxious, that’s not weakness. It’s my nervous system telling me something matters deeply to me.
When I feel frustrated after conversations with my daughters, that’s not failure. It’s evidence that I’m learning to share what my needs and desires are instead of being afraid to share how I truly feel and what I need.
When I feel restless or uncertain, that’s not me falling behind. It’s me in the middle of becoming.
For years, I turned feelings into self-criticism: You shouldn’t feel this way. You should be over this by now. You should be stronger, clearer, more certain, it’s on me to save the relationship, they will only like you – if you give and give and give.
But this year — this month — I’m practicing something different.
I’m letting the feelings be there. I’m staying present with them. I’m noticing them without layering judgment on top.
And I’m catching the negative self-talk when it starts: Wait. Is that true? Is that kind? Would I say this to someone I love?
This is where the real growth happens — not in the big breakthroughs, but in the small, repeated choice to meet myself with acceptance instead of criticism.
What feeling have you been avoiding or judging? What might shift if you simply let it be present without needing to fix it?
This month, I’m inviting myself — and you — to create small corners of sanctuary. To play with presence instead of demanding perfection. To adjust instead of forcing. To accept instead of criticizing.
The bingo card is just one way. Your way might look different.
But wherever you are, whatever you’re carrying — there’s room to breathe here.
