When the world pauses, you can too – a winter invitation to slow, stay, and listen.

Sometimes THE PAUSE isn’t chosen – it’s weathered.
Snow falls. Roads quiet. Plans shift. The world asks us, gently or abruptly, to stay where we are. Before you rush to fill the stillness, let yourself meet it. Notice what it feels like to have nowhere else to be, even briefly. This moment doesn’t need productivity. It just needs your presence.

SEE: When the outer world slows, the inner one often speaks more clearly.
Pay attention to what rises when the noise fades: A longing you’ve been postponing. A fatigue you’ve been carrying quietly. A relief you didn’t know you needed. This isn’t about solving or sorting. It’s about noticing what becomes visible when the usual pace softens. Ask yourself, gently, What have I been moving too quickly to hear?

BREATHE: Let this moment be of reflection instead of action.
When the world slows, we’re often tempted to fill the space – to catch up, to plan ahead, to make the pause useful. But reflection asks something different. It asks you to sit with what is, without rushing it into meaning. Consider this quietly: What has this season asked me to notice about myself? Not improve. Not fix. Just notice. You don’t need answers yet. Awareness is enough for now.
Several years ago I took a personality assessment called, Kolbe – my results were 5,7,7,2 – what does that mean? It means I research things enough to make a decision(5), I follow-through(7), I quick start(7), and I’m not an implementor(2). See, this is important because I hated to execute and to build, it was not my jam – I noticed the scratchy sweater and took time to figure out why I was dreading so much of my day to day – because I was a hard worker my bosses would have me execute, get things done. It wasn’t until I took the CliftonStrengths Assessment that I understood more of me – In my top 5, the execution domain is not represented – so, how do I get things done? I influence people to get things done, once I knew this – I was at peace with myself, with my approach, and with future roles I would go after, because I knew myself better – because I paused to notice.

GROWTH CAN BE SLOW AND STEADY
Pauses aren’t meant to trap us in stillness. They’re meant to help us choose what comes next with care. Before the world speeds up again, take a moment to notice what the quiet has clarified. What feels lighter now? What no longer wants to come with you? Growth doesn’t ask you to rush back into motion. It asks you to re-enter with intention. As you move forward, consider this: What would it look like to elevate gently-carrying less static, and more of what matters?
One small shift is enough. Momentum will follow.

Recently, a client shared this with me after discovering her CliftonStrengths – Positivity, Includer, Connectedness, Consistency, and Developer:
“What I always thought I believed turned out to be who I truly am. This experience changed my life. Thank you for helping me recognize my core values-I’m grateful from the bottom of my heart.”
Moments like this are why I do what I do. There is something powerful about having language for who you already are-and permission to live it fully.
